A single TikTok catalog is easy to launch. It becomes difficult to trust when your Shopify store expands into markets with different currencies, translations, prices, domains, or assortments. The same product can be valid in every country while still needing different catalog data for each destination.
The clean solution is a repeatable mapping: one defined Shopify Market context → one product feed → one matching TikTok catalog. MW TikTok Product Feed helps merchants build that structure with separate scheduled feeds for every required country, language, and currency.
Why separate catalogs by market
Shopify Markets can localize currency, language, pricing, product availability, and domains. TikTok catalogs also have a target location and default currency. When one feed is used across incompatible market contexts, merchants can end up with the wrong price, language, landing page, or available product set.
TikTok’s native Shopify guidance says catalogs can be created for the countries supported by the store through Shopify Markets. The official TikTok guide to managing catalogs on Shopify describes connecting Shopify to TikTok for Business and managing catalogs for additional regions.
Separate catalogs are useful when at least one of these changes by destination:
- currency;
- fixed or adjusted market pricing;
- storefront language;
- domain, subdomain, or market URL;
- product availability;
- campaign assortment;
- update schedule or operational owner.
This is not separation for its own sake. It is a way to keep every imported product internally consistent.
Understand the three layers
It helps to distinguish three things that are often called a catalog.
| Layer | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Shopify Market and assigned Shopify catalog | Storefront availability and market-specific pricing |
| MW TikTok Product Feed | The localized product data and selection exported for one destination |
| TikTok catalog | The product source used by TikTok for the selected country and advertising workflow |
These layers should agree, but they are not interchangeable. Changing a TikTok catalog does not translate a Shopify title. Creating a Shopify Market does not by itself guarantee that a third-party feed uses its currency and URL. The feed is the bridge between them.
Step 1: design the catalog map
List your active sales destinations and make the intended relationships explicit.
| Feed name | Shopify Market | TikTok country | Currency | Language |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TT-US-en-USD | United States | United States | USD | English |
| TT-FR-fr-EUR | France | France | EUR | French |
| TT-GB-en-GBP | United Kingdom | United Kingdom | GBP | English |
Use names that remain understandable six months later. Country, language, and currency in the name make mistakes visible before an import starts.
Do not automatically create a catalog for every theoretical combination. Create one for each destination you intend to advertise and can support with a valid localized storefront. TikTok catalog availability and features vary by market, so confirm the current destination support in TikTok before building the workflow.
Step 2: prepare each Shopify Market
For every row in your map, verify the source configuration in Shopify:
- Activate the Market and confirm its countries or regions.
- Set the intended currency and review market-specific price adjustments or fixed prices.
- Add and assign the storefront language.
- Configure the market domain or URL structure.
- Confirm the products and variants are available for that Market and sales channel.
Shopify explains the available currency, language, pricing, availability, and domain customizations in its Markets overview. Its domains and languages guide covers language assignment and market URLs.
Open several products through each market destination. The landing page is the commercial source of truth: its language, price, currency, availability, and variant must agree with what you plan to submit.
Step 3: create one localized feed in MW
Connect your TikTok for Business account in MW TikTok Product Feed, then create the feed for the first country-language-currency combination. The app uses Shopify translations and Shopify Markets prices, so the exported data stays tied to the configuration you already maintain in Shopify.
For each feed:
- select the country, language, and currency context;
- choose which products should appear;
- include the intended variants;
- preview the changes before saving;
- send the feed to its matching TikTok catalog;
- set the update schedule after the first clean import.
Repeat the process for the next Market instead of duplicating and manually editing an exported file. Each feed keeps its own selection and import diagnostics. On the paid plan, merchants can also use more flexible scheduling, bulk editing, custom title templates, and custom labels when the catalog strategy requires them.
Step 4: validate each catalog independently
TikTok requires a catalog’s default currency to match the currency in its product data, and the submitted product price should match the landing page. Those requirements are documented in TikTok’s catalog creation guide and product parameter reference.
After import, validate a sample from every catalog rather than checking only the first one:
- one standard product;
- one discounted product;
- one product with several variants;
- one translated product;
- one product included in one Market but excluded from another.
MW TikTok Product Feed shows warnings and errors separately per feed and lets you compare feed selection with TikTok SKU status side by side. This makes a multi-market setup easier to operate because a failure in one country does not become an ambiguous global-feed problem.
Watch for Shopify catalog inheritance
Shopify catalogs can be assigned to Markets and sales channels. By default, a catalog includes all products, and Shopify can combine product availability from related catalogs. Adding a sales-channel catalog does not automatically remove products inherited from the parent Market.
This matters when a regional TikTok catalog should carry a smaller assortment. Review Shopify’s catalog guidance and sales-channel market behavior before assuming that a new channel catalog overrides everything above it. If the TikTok assortment needs independent control, define that selection in the corresponding MW feed and preview it before sending.
When one feed may still be enough
A shared feed can be reasonable when destinations truly use the same language, currency, price, URLs, products, and update cadence—and when the TikTok catalog structure supports that use. The moment you need a different price, translation, destination URL, or assortment, split the context.
The practical rule is simple: if a product row would need to change, it belongs in a different feed.
Build a catalog system you can maintain
The strongest multi-market setup is not the one with the most catalogs. It is the one where every catalog has a named purpose, a reliable Shopify source, a predictable schedule, and an owner who can diagnose rejected products.
